I didn't mention this but when I resize a model I apply a smart sharpen filter to it. Resizing Go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen, set the amount to 30 by 1 pixel.
Great tutorial. I love your comic so this was a fascinating way to see behind the scenes. One of the great things in the comic is the simulation of depth of field through incremental blurring. Simple solution for an awesome effect!
Maybe I missed it in the comments somewhere but what resolution and image sizes do you typically work with?
Well I have a wide 1440x900 main monitor and a 1280x1024 secondary if that gives you an idea. I use the taller shots on the second display but most everything on the widescreen.
Very interesting and informative tutorial. I was always wondering how you made your comic, and now I know! I didn't realize how much work really goes into one of these comics. Great job on yours!

His face was drawn, but the curtains were real.
Read the entire thing, sad part is that my knowledge with Photoshop let me understand all that. Sadly, though, it was not MY Photoshop so I will have to purchase one... or get it from a friend... <_<
Thank you very much for the information, hopefully it will be put to SOME use at SOME time... hopefully. Thank you none the less!

"I brush with death so often I should start giving him high fives when I pass..." Dr. Gordon Freeman, from the series "Freeman's Mind"
Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I tend to take tons of screen shots, and I always wondered how you got the edges of your characters so nice and smooth. XD
Also, for the voting images, I like the ones that you've made much more than the drawings. >.> Just saying.

I have issues just like you.
The difference is mine are amateur.
Yours are professional.
